Hebrews 9:12-14 | 5-10yrs Sunday on Thursday

Read It

Hebrews 9:12-14

12 He (Jesus) did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 This blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

Discuss It

What was the Most Holy Place? Why did people need the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer? Why is the blood of Christ important? How does it cleanse us?

What does it mean that Christ was unblemished? How did Christ's blood obtain eternal redemption? Why is the fact that we serve a living God such good news?

Study Time

Take some time as a family to study more about the sacrifices that God required in the Old Testament. Find information about the temple and the Most Holy Place. Then, revisit the story of Jesus' death and talk about the significance of the curtain being ripped in two.

A good resource to use to talk through this is The Garden, The Curtain and the Cross by Carl Laferton. Click the picture to add this book to your personal library.

Worship Tunes

Focusing on the words, rejoice together that we serve the Giver of life.
